She was the only child of John and Edith, however, she had a half-brother and sister and five step-brothers and sisters. She spent most of her childhood on a farm near Blacktail Dam northwest of Williston.
On October 25, 1937, she was united in marriage to Odin Lee, whom she met earlier that year in Williston. They lived in Williston for two years before moving to a farm near Epping, N.D. After many years on the farm, they moved back to Williston where Elna worked for 14 years at the Williams County Court House, in the Treasurer’s office. Odin passed away in 1970. A few years later, Elna married Joe Munyan. Joe and Elna relocated to Kalispell, Mont. Joe passed away nine years later.
Elna returned to Williston to be with her mother, Edith Wright. When Edith died in 1998, Elna moved to Watford City, N.D., to be close to her daughter, Bette Bolken and family. While living in Watford City, Elna spent many years traveling to Yuma, Ariz. as a snowbird. In 2005, Elna returned to Williston and was a resident of “The Golden Estates”. Elna lived there for eight years and had met many friends there that were like family to her.
In June of 2013, Elna returned to Watford City, N.D., to live at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Nursing Home for 8 months. In February of 2014, Elna moved to warm, sunny Palm Springs, Calif. where she resided at the Brookdale Senior Living, until her death.
