Orvel Thorp
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014 at Fulkerson Funeral Home in Watford City for Orvel “Bud” Thorp, 90, who passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Home in Watford City, N.D. A Masonic Service was held Saturday. Reverend Rob Favorite officiated.
Bud was born in Watford City, N.D., on Jan. 10, 1924. He lived on the ranch his father had homesteaded most of his life. He was married Doris Ann Peterson at the First Lutheran Church in Watford City, N.D., in 1957. They moved into Watford City in 2001. Doris passed away in 2004. He went into the Good Shepherd Home in 2009. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the 50 Years in the Saddle Club.
Bud is survived by his daughter, Jean Thorp Monk, and husband James, of Arnegard, N.D.; two grandchildren, Adam Louis Monk of Watford City, N.D., and Hilary Jean Monk of Williston, N.D.; his sister-in-law, Anna Thorp of Fort Benton, Mont., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Leroy Thorp and Isabel Thorp; his wife, Doris Ann Peterson Thorp; brother, Dell Leroy Thorp and one nephew, Clifford Thorp.
