Paul Van Allen
Paul Van Allen, 51, of Williston, N.D., passed away Thursday afternoon, Jan. 18, 2018, at the Billings Clinic Hospital in Billings, Mont., only two weeks after being diagnosed with aggressive Multiple Myeloma.
Paul David Van Allen was born in Williston, N.D., Aug. 22, 1966, to Clyde and Beverly (Bergum) Van Allen. Paul was a lifelong resident of Williston and graduated from W.H.S. in 1985.
On July 26, 2002, Paul was united in marriage to Trudy Herreid. They made their home in Williston. Together, they enjoyed a number of hobbies, mostly involving vehicles. Paul enjoyed remote control cars and airplanes. He was an avid motorcyclist, with Trudy always next to him on his bright red Can-Am Spider or his bright red 1992 Classic Corvette. They rode throughout western North Dakota and eastern Montana. Paul was a big NASCAR fan and a collector of Dale Earnhardt memorabilia.
Paul has been employed the last 10 years by CHI St. Alexius Williston MedQuest as a technician, installing and repairing home health equipment. Paul had received Jesus Christ as his Savior and he and Trudy attended New Hope Wesleyan Church in Williston.
Known for his quirky sense of humor, Paul suggested his obituary should simply read, “He lived. He worked. He died.”
Surviving Paul are the love of his life, wife, Trudy; his Abelmann relatives; and his extended family, Patti (Steve) Ogurchak of Williston, Jill Herreid of Williston, Glenn (Linda) Herreid of Hiawassee, Georgia and Lana (Rick) Ensrud of Minneapolis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Paul in death were his parents, Clyde and Beverly Van Allen.
Trudy extends special thanks to St. Alexius hospital, Williston, the Billings Clinic Hospital, Paul’s co-workers at MedQuest and family and friends for their kindness during this time.
His Funeral Service was held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at the New Hope Wesleyan Church in Williston. Rev. Aaron Case officiated. Interment in Riverview Cemetery followed the funeral service.
