Randy Carraway
Randy “Ragnar” Carraway, 51, of Williston, formerly of Salmon, Idaho, died on Sunday, July 22, 2012, in Billings, Mont.
A memorial service honoring his life was held on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at the New Armory in Williston. Pastor Steve Anderson officiated the ceremony.
Randy D. Carraway was born on March 31, 1961, to Chester and Gwedolyn (Scollick) Carraway in Salmon, Idaho.
He grew up and attended grade school in Salmon. During junior high school, the family moved to Tendoy, Idaho, where he attended school in Ledore, Idaho. Randy was active and thoroughly enjoyed 4-H. He later received his GED in 1978.
Randy worked on the Larry Bagley Ranch where he appreciated horseback riding, moving cattle and fencing. He worked a variety of other jobs in the area until going to work fighting fires for Idaho Forest Services.
He married Claudine Bowman in Boise in 1981. Three children joined them in this world, Chad, Natasha and Jeremiah. In July 1992, he married Tamara Cook at Lake Tahoe. There were two children born of this union, Shayna and Nick.
In 2002, Randy moved to North Dakota where he began work with S&S Sales. He met LeAnn Kostad and was united in marriage on May 29, 2004, in Salmon. On Jan. 30, 2005, their daughter, Skye, was born. Her daddy loved her so much. She was the sunshine and light to his every day. They loved to watch cartoons and movies in Daddy’s big chair in the living room.
He was employed with WISCO, then Cyclone Drilling and Bronco Drilling until he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2009. At the time of his death, he was a winch truck driver for Basin Concrete.
Randy loved the outdoors and anything pertaining to nature. He found peace and freedom on his motorcycle over the open roads and through the mountains.
He was a rock for anyone who knew him, a foundation to grow from. He was always there to listen, love and handle things.
Randy is survived by LeAnn and Skye, of Williston, N.D.; children, Chad and Jessica Carraway, their children, Halana, Charlie, Jacob and Addisen, of Boise, Idaho; Natasha and Brian Agee and their children, Seth and Talon, of Boise, Idaho; Jeremiah Carraway and his children, Elizabeth and Tysun, of Boise, Idaho; Shayna Carraway of Kynzee and Rhypp, of Flaxton, N.D.; Jordan Peterson and Londen Peterson, of Williston, N.D.; brothers, Bob Carraway and his wife, Connie, of Idaho Falls; Rob Scollick and his fiance, Carla, of Puyallup, Wash.; Delmas Carraway, Charles Carraway, Gary Carraway and Mike Carraway, all of Idaho and Lloyd Batterton, of Keene, N.D. and sisters, Nancy Olson and her husband, Jeff, of Salmon, Idaho; Barbara Henderson and her husband, Larry, of Keene, N.D.; Judy Nield, of Chubbuck, Idaho and Judy Carraway, of Idaho. Randy is also survived by many neices and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepdad, Virgil Batterton; Boozefighter Timothy “Cutter” Linghor and Boozette Lisa Knudson.
There has been a benefit account opened for his wife and children at Western Cooperative Credit Union in Williston.
