Shirley Lindeman

Shirley Lindeman, 82, of Thief River Falls, Minn., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at her residence.
Shirley Mae Olson was born on Dec. 18, 1937, at the Watford City Hospital in Watford City, N.D., the daughter of Gotfred Carl Olson and Grace Hazel (Dahl) Olson.  She was baptized on July 14, 1938, at the Banks Church in Watford City.  Shirley attended school in the McKenzie County Rural School. On Nov. 28, 1959, Shirley was married to Donald Wesley Lindeman in Sidney, Mont.
As a young girl Shirley worked as a ranch hand for Ben Johnstone.  Upon her death she was still waiting for compensation.  Following her time on the ranch she worked at the hospital in Watford City for three years where she was involved in all aspects of care, under the direction of Dr. Lamel.  She took her talents to start work at the hospital in Linton, N.D., for a brief time.
After moving to Thief River Falls, Shirley began caring for the residents at Oakland Park as a Nurse’s Aide.  She continued her passion of helping others at Valley Home, first as a med nurse, then in the kitchen, and finished her career managing the laundry department.  Shirley retired from Valley Home at the age of 75.
Shirley’s favorite hobbies included racing snowmobiles, bowling, playing cards, horseshoes, always winning at Wahoo, baking, crocheting, gardening, going to horse shows and PBR bull rides with her family, telling stories, entertaining guests, going to her grandkids sporting events, winning big at the casino, and most importantly - being anywhere her family was.
Shirley is survived by her children, Lynda (Bob) Scholin of Thief River Falls, Tammy (Joe) Johnson of Mooreton, N.D., and Dawn Pyle of Thief River Falls; grandchildren, Jaime (Matthew) Schad, Cody Johnson, Corey (Shana) Lindeman, and Justin Pyle; adopted grandson, Pete Rode; great-grandchildren, Jolie Starren, Bryce Starren, Baker Lindeman and Oakley Lindeman; sister, Anna (Carlyle) Thompson of Watford City; brothers, Duke (Sharon) Olson of Watford City, and Ed (Beverly) Olson of Watford City; sisters-in-law, Virginia Killeen of Bismarck, N.D., Dorinda (Leo) Schiermeister of Hazelton, N.D., and Margaret Lindeman Braun of Tucson, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Jim Stallman of Chicago, Ill.; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
