Solveig Norstog

Solveig “Vicki” Marie Norstog 92,  of Edina, passed away on Feb. 26, 2019.
Vicki, born Oct. 20, 1926, loved growing up on the family farm in Watford City, N.D. She loved music, gardening, writing, and reading. She was very meaningfully involved in her church community and writing group for years. She spent years working as a child psychologist in Houston and at the Lutheran Church headquarters in Minneapolis, Minn. She volunteered and provided pastoral care at Fairview Southdale Hospital, Edina, Minn. She valued dream work, helping others interpret their dreams through classes and individual relationships. Throughout her life, she loved creating community with friends and family through meals and conversation. Vicki wrote and published her first book, Sit Tight and Pray a Lot: Lessons from the Prairie: The Depression Years, at age 87, and prepared other stories for future publication. She earned a Master’s in Divinity from United Theological Seminary, St. Paul, Minn., and a Bachelor of Arts from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn. (1948).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Marie (née Prestangen) Norstog.
She is survived by her daughters, Cyndi Dale, Kristine (Yoichi) Kawamura, and Carleen (Mark) Chase; grandsons, Michael (Lianne Endo) Dale-Stein, Gabriel Pilla, Zachary Dale, and Winston Chase; granddaughters, Reyna and Persephone Kawamura; brothers, Konrad (Sharon) Norstog and Bjarne (Peggy) Norstog; sister, Magnhild (George) Madsen; many loved nieces and nephew and their families; many valued relatives in North Dakota and Norway; and many close friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 11 a.m., at Edina Community Lutheran Church, 4113 54th St., Edina, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, and a reception to follow.
