Sonja Gossin

Sonja Gossin, 81, passed away Aug. 8, 2019, at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper, Wyo., after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
Sonja was born Jan. 16, 1938, in Watford City, N.D., to Ralph and Arlene (Boe) Christensen.
Sonja grew up in Watford City, N.D., and graduated from Watford City High School in 1956. She then attended N.D. State University in Fargo for one year. She married Larry Tucker in 1958, then moved to Casper, Wyo., in 1967.
Sonja was employed by the Natrona County School District starting in 1968. She retired from the District’s finance office in 1996.
Sonja was first widowed in 1972. She married Gene Medley in 1974. Sonja was widowed once again in 1989. In 1991, Sonja married Dave Gossin. For several years they enjoyed dancing, traveling, and sightseeing in Arizona.
Sonja was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in January 2007. She went to live at Shepard of the Valley Nursing Home in 2014, then with Amy Gossin in October 2017. Through it all, Sonja maintained her easy going nature and sense of humor. She was a wonderful wife and mother, always putting family first.
Sonja was a talented crafter, including scrapbooking, card making, and knitting hats. She volunteered for Caps for Kids and Casper Senior Sidewalkers.
Sonja was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Karen; son, David; and her two husbands.
She is survived by her husband, Dave Gossin; son, Duane Tucker; daughters, Laurie Tucker and Linda (Michael) Perez; stepdaughters, Amy Gossin and Sally (Smokey) Slocum; grandchildren, Ryan and Cameron Perez, Kylie (Rob) Sinclair and Kaylin Gregory; brothers, Rich (Patti) Christensen and Jim Christensen.
Sonja will be missed by her former school classmates, colleagues, her many friends, and especially her family.
