The Alexander Comets defeated Kenmare-Bowbells 28-20 as part of Alexander’s Old Settlers’ Weekend. It was the second win in a row, both by an eight-point margin. “It’s always nice to win a home opener,” said Alexander head coach, Trey Jacobson. “Adding the Alexander Old Settlers’ crowd always makes it a bit more exciting. With past alumni showing up to town to watch, as the coach, I think I can speak for the team as a whole, by saying that we want to make everyone in town proud. The atmosphere was great and hearing the horn sound with us up 28-20, the kids were super excited. It was a great way to kick off the big weekend in town.”
Alexander never trailed as they jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead. The Honkers of Kenmare-Bowbells stepped up their defense in the second quarter and scored a touchdown to climb within 14-6 at halftime. Both teams scored two touchdowns and one successful two-point conversion in the second half.
