Watford City’s cross country teams wrapped up their regular season last Tuesday as the Wolves competed in the Killdeer Meet where both varsity teams took second place.
“I was real proud of our runners on Tuesday,” stated Greg Brown, Wolves’ head coach. “We went to Killdeer and attacked an extremely tough course. The distances that we ran last Tuesday were 1K shorter than the normal races but with a extremely difficult  hill. Our runners attacked and went up the hill well.”
Hayes Feilmeier won the varsity boys division posting a time of 17:08, while Addison Sundeen took fourth in the girls division with a time of 14:10.
Other Watford City finishers in the boys division were Dustin Kleppen, 12th, 19:22; Dillon Smith, 14th, 19:29; Logan Gumke, 16th, 19:40; Curtis Lohse, 17th, 19:42; John Meuchel, 20th, 19:55; Alex Hansen, 28th, 21:12; Casey Bolman, 31st, 22:06; Reid Brown, 34th, 22:51; Colt Nicholson, 37th, 24:45; and James Devers, 40th, 25:20.
Also placing in the girls division was Kristen Stenehjem, 5th, 14:17; Kade Ross, 8th, 14:27; Lea Arndt, 14th, 14:48; Jayme Johnson, 16th, 14:54; Bessie Schmitz, 17th, 14:55; Tara Loomer, 18th, 14:57; Kara Wold, 20th, 15:05; Hollie Griggs, 29th, 16:09; and Sarah Newton, 40th, 19:09.
“Our season is quickly coming to an end as we run at the State Cross Country Meet in Jamestown this Saturday,” states Brown. “The athletes must be ready as they are starting to feel that practices are too short, and not extremely hard. They are recovering very fast and seem more ready to run as we get them ready for the State Meet.”
The State Meet will be held in Jamestown on Oct. 23.
