The Devils Lake Firebird’s defeated the Watford City Wolves 31-6 on Friday night. Devils Lake used a big-play offense to build an early lead, and then sustained the lead with an opportunistic defense.
Quarterback Beau Brodina provided the first big play with a 50-yard touchdown run with 3:34 left in the first quarter. The second big play came as Brodina connected with Drew Hofstad for a 44-yard touchdown pass. That was Brodina’s only completed pass in the first half and came at the 8:48 mark of the second quarter. Running back Colton Schneider made the next big play as he ran 49 yards for the third Firebird touchdown of the first half to make it 21-0.
