Early Bird Track & Field event challenges girls
Guest Columnist: Derek Roemmich
We had a great turnout at our first home track meet. There were 20 teams, and 810 athletes that showed up for the first meet. I would like to thank all the volunteers and staff that had helped to make this meet a success. We truly wouldn’t have been able to run a meet like this without all the help. I think this may have been one of the largest meets hosted by WCHS.
It was a great day for the athletes too. Nice and warm, but a little bit windy. Fallon Sampsel ended up winning the 400m with a time of 1:01.78, placed 2nd in the 800m with a time of 2:28.64, and placed 2nd in the 300mH with a time of 51.30. Amelia Wisness ran well and placed 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 52.56. Kenzy Kuchenbuch threw well and placed 2nd in Javelin with a throw of 95’6”.
