The Watford City Junior Gold team picked up their first win of the season when the Oilers knocked off the Crosby Comets 3-2 in overtime.
After a scoreless first period, Crosby went up 1-0 converting a 3-on-1 play. But the Oilers answered back  to deadlock the game 1:36 into the third period when Jayden Grotte scored a power play goal assisted by Douglas Nordby.
The Comets would go up 2-1 with 11:42 remaining in the game scoring on a flurry in front of Oiler netminder, Kalden Heggen, who kicked aside 38 Crosby shots in the game.
Sophomore Brandon Taylor would send the game into overtime when he scored with 2:38 left in regulation.
After both teams missed scoring chances in overtime, Taylor slammed home the winning goal for the Oilers with 1:15 left in the 10 minute overtime period to give the Oilers their first win on the season.
The Oilers were without the services of Senior Captain Douglas Rolfson who is out with a shoulder injury.
Members of this year’s Junior Gold team are defensemen Douglas Rolfson, Austin Patten, Alex Hansen and Davis Zubke; forwards Brandon Taylor, Jayden Grotte, Douglas Nordby, Reid Kinden, Tanner Wold, Chris Larsen, Reese Frick, Josh Johnson, Guy Ross, Chandler Ferrari and Katie Skarda and goalie Kalden Heggen.
The next action for the Oilers will be on Tuesday when they travel to Williston to take on the Williston JV  before resuming league action against the Richland Rangers on Saturday at 8 p.m. (CT) in Sidney.
