It was an exciting and busy week for Watford City as they started their season with three wins, including two against Region opponents.

Watford City 62,
Shiloh Christian 52

Head coach Tom Dwyer was able to coach his team to a win where he used to play his home games as a high school player. Shiloh had a good start to the game with a 19-point first quarter. The Wolves defense clamped down on the Skyhawks in the second quarter, outscoring them 11-4. In the second half, the offense really came to life with a 26-point third quarter. Shiloh made a run in the fourth quarter, but Watford City never gave up the lead, finishing off the victory with a 10-point margin. Lohgan Hanna had an incredible game, leading the Wolves with eight rebounds while shooting 11-for-23 from the field, making six 3-pointers and scoring 30 points. Bailey Mattson dished out six assists and had five pass deflections.
The win over Shiloh Christian was not only a season-opening road win, but it also counts in the Region 4 standings. Watford City will play each Region opponent twice this year, with the lone exception of Standing Rock. “It’s a great way to start the season with a win against a regional opponent, especially on the road. It’s still very early in our journey but hopefully gives us some confidence and something to build off,” said Coach Dwyer.
