Watford City 55 Hazen 41
Jessica Mogen set the tone early and often in this one as Watford City evened their Region 4 record at 1-1. Watford City hit five 3-pointers in the first half and built a lead as big as 24-9 in the second quarter. Six different players scored in that first half as the Wolves shot 14-of-26 from the field for 54 percent. Mogen scored 17 of her 31 points in the first half.
“Jessica did a phenomenal job defending one of their best players,” said Wolves head coach Tom Dwyer. “I loved seeing her not hesitate to take some threes and she made three of them in the first quarter. Hazen decided they could no longer stay in their zone defense after watching her hit three 3-pointers. She set the tempo for our team, raised the energy and made sure we didn’t let them come back.”
