Liebel earns spot at State Golf Tourney

Watford City’s Nick Liebel carded a seven over par, 79, to earn the right to advance to the State Class B Boys Golf Tournament during last Friday’s State Qualifying Tournament at the Watford City Golf Course.
Liebel was the only Wolves’ player to meet the qualifying score and was only one of three golfers to make the cut under the cold and windy conditions.
Ryan Seil of Trinity Christian and Drew Middaugh of MLS both fired scores of 77 to earn the trip to the State competition.
Other Watford City golfers, who competed, but did not  qualify for State, were Seth Dougherty, Chris Larsen, Skyler Rogness, Jesse Weber and Ryan Monsen. Dougherty shot an 85, while Larsen carded an 89. Rogness ended the day with a score of 93, while Weber and Monsen shot rounds of 97 and 107, respectively.
Stanley shot the lowest team score of 337, while the Wolves came in second with a score of 346.

TCS Invitational
Watford City posted a team score of 346 to edge Stanley, which scored 353, for a first place finish at the Trinity Christian Invitational on Monday at the Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Williston.
Brock Overbo of Divide County posted the low score of the day with a 78, while Watford City’s Nick Liebel carded a 79. Also placing in the top 10 for Watford City were Seth Dougherty, who tied for fourth with an 86 and Chris Larsen, who tied for seventh with an 88.
Also scoring for Watford City wa Skyler Rogness, 93, Jesse Weber, 98; and Ryan Monsen, 109.
