Spikers down Ray

Watford City rolled over the Ray Jays in varsity volleyball action last Tuesday before competing in a very tough Dickinson Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
This week, the Wolves will host Parshall on Thursday and Williston Trinity Christian on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Karson Pederson had four service aces and nine kills as she helped lead the Wolves to a 3-0 win over the Ray Jays last Tuesday. The Wolves bested the Jays by scores of 25-12, 25-11 and 26-24.

Dickinson Tournament
After losing to Hazen in the first round of the Dickinson Tournament by scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-18, Watford City came back in pool play to defeat Baker 25-15, 25-23 and 25-20. Watford City then faced a very strong Bismarck Century team with the Wolves losing to the Patriots 25-14, 25-10 and 25-10.
With a 1-2 record in pool play, the Wolves then competed in the Silver Division of the tournament. In the opening round of the tournament, the Wolves lost their first game 25-23 before coming back to take the next two games 25-22 and 25-23.
Watford City then took on Hardin where the Wolves lost their first game 25-20 before coming back to take the second game 26-24 and losing their third game 25-18.
The Wolves then lost their next two matches falling to Spearfish 25-20 and 25-13 and Glendive 25-23 and 26-24.
“The Dickinson Tournament is always a tough tournament to play in as we are up against Class A and B teams from North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana,” stated Nancy Deutsch, Wolves’ head coach. “The girls know that they are a better team than what we showed this weekend. But the girls played hard and learned a lot.”
