After losing their first two games of the season, Watford City’s varsity volleyball team got into the winning mode as the Wolves picked up dual wins over Tioga and New Town. The Wolves then capped off a busy Saturday placing fourth in the Gold Division of their own invitational tournament.
“The girls played very well in our tournament,” stated Nancy Deutsch, Wolves’ head coach. “We are beginning to adjust to each team and we are getting better with each game.”
Deutsch points to the earlier season loss to Killdeer and to Saturday’s tournament action against the Cowboys as an indication of the improvement.
“Two weeks ago, Killdeer beat us in our first dual of the season,” states Deutsch. “On Saturday, we beat them in two quick games.”
While the Wolves finished in fourth place in Saturday’s tournament, she felt that her team played well against Divide County and New England.
Watford City’s next volleyball action will be on Tuesday, Sept. 24 when the Wolves travel to Ray.
