Spikers split in volleyball action

Watford City split in varsity volleyball action this past week as the Wolves dropped three games to Stanley on Tuesday, Sept. 30, before bounding back to sweep Parshall, 3-0, on Thursday.
This week the Wolves will be on the road as they travel to Trenton on Thursday and then compete at the Beach Tournament on Saturday. Watford City will then close out the week’s schedule on Wednesday when Dickinson Trinity comes to town.

Stanley 3, Watford City 0
Watford City went to Stanley on Sept. 30, looking for a chance to pick up some wins against the Blue Jays. But Stanley proved to be the better team as the Blue Jays swept the Wolves by scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-23.
“It was a tough game for us,” stated Brad Foss, Wolves’ head coach. “We struggled to get things going because of poor ball handling and missed serves.”
Katie Mogen led the Wolves with eight kills and one block, while Ricki Lindley had one service ace. Tarynn Jacobson had nine assists for Watford City, while Bailee Garmann had 10 digs.

Aces: Ricki Lindley, 1.
Kills: Katie Mogen, 8; Kara Langerud, 5; Lindley, 5.
Blocks: K. Mogen, 1.

Watford City 3, Parshall 0
Watford City rebounded from their loss to Stanley by taking out their frustrations on Parshall on Thursday. The Wolves swept the Braves in three quick games by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-8.
Watford City’s offense played a solid game as the Wolves had 13 service aces and 19 kills in the match.
Ricki Lindley led the Wolves with six aces and seven kills.
