The No. 1 Minot Magicians brought their suffocating defense to town last Tuesday night and beat Watford City 103-29. Minot moved to 5-0 on the season as they scored 100 or more points for the second time already this year.
Watford City Coach David Gumke said, “Minot is a very good disciplined team. They do the little things and are very coachable. Good teams teach us to be more disciplined and fundamental. They expose our weaknesses and remind us that the little things are very important.”
The Magicians received 13 out of 16 first-place votes in the latest NDAPSSA poll. They won the state championship last season and brought back a lot of talent from that team including Darik Dissette who will be playing basketball at NDSU next year. The Wolves defense held Dissette to just four first-half points, but the talented senior did score 15 in the second half.
