Raehs Puetz continues to be the leader of the Watford City boys cross country team as he took fourth place individually, while helping the Wolves to a fourth place finish at the Region Meet on Saturday at Watford City’s Fox Hills Golf Course.
Puetz completed the race in a time of 17:40.05.
“We had a great day to host the Region Meet,” stated Greg Brown, Wolves’ head coach. “We were supposed to run in Bismarck, but had problems with the meet site, so we did a bit of a scramble to get it set up here. I felt our athletes ran very well on our course.”
Following Puetz across the finish line for the boys team was Dakota Garmann, 19th, 19:14.04; Michael Brown, 30th, 20:18.72; Devin Schmitz, 35th, 20:38.97; Osman Leon, 43rd, 21:12.80; Lathan Smith, 45th, 21:19.23; Hunter DeFoe, 46th, 21:20.66; Jack Gillispey, 50th, 21:41.85; Cauy Hartel, 72nd, 23:57.16; and Trevor Alveshere, 73rd, 24:32.10.
“I am seeing a lot of good things coming from the boys team,” states Brown. “It’s nice never knowing who is going to step up each meet. We score in the top five at each meet, and there have been many different runners in our top five this year.”
In the varsity girls division, Addison Sundeen took 41st for the Wolves with a time of 18:41.37, while Chelsea Cryer came in 54th in 20:00.99.
In the junior varsity division, Fabiola Lee-Morales finished 22nd in 22:05.77.
“I am hoping for some exciting things to happen at the State Meet on Saturday, Oct. 25, in Minot,” says Brown. “On the girls side we are seeing personal bests for the year with our runners. Everybody has been working hard all season and we are now starting to see the payoff.”
