The Watford City Wolves welcomed the No. 4 Dickinson Midgets to Fridley Field for their first AA West game of the year. Dickinson got the win 39-22.
Watford City out-gained Dickinson in total yards by a margin of 353-329, but Dickinson won the turnover battle three to one. The Wolves struck first with a 5-play, 81-yard drive as Josh Chavez scored from two yards out. He added the two-point conversion for an 8-0 Watford City lead with 7:06 left in the first quarter. Dickinson responded with a 30-yard touchdown pass from Nathan Stevenson to Kolby FastHorse, capping off a 9-play, 58-yard drive.
Dickinson scored again to take a 13-8 lead when Stevenson and FastHorse connected again, this time from 18 yards out. After a Watford City fumble, Dickinson scored on their next play from scrimmage as Stevenson threw his third touchdown pass: a 35-yarder to Paxton Lyson. Down 21-8, Watford City put together their longest drive of the game. They drove 86 yards in 11 plays and scored on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Wyatt Boekelman to Konnor Winter that had been deflected. That score came on fourth down and got the Wolves within 21-14. The Wolves got the football back and drove all the way down to the one-yard line when the first half expired.
