Watford City hosted a doubleheader against Minot on Thursday, and lost both games. After a scoreless first inning, Minot’s offense methodically built an 8-0 lead. The Wolves got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to three consecutive hit batters and an RBI walk by Landon Ledahl. Paco Baldenegro then emptied the bases with a 3-run double to right field. Minot answered right back in the top of the seventh with four runs of their own to put the game out of reach.
“Minot is very good, they are really good 1-9 and their pitching is deep,” said Wolves head coach Pat Spacher. “We struggled in all phases of the game and have to do better on Monday if we want to make the WDA tournament. Our focus is on getting better between now and then, getting healthy and having the right approach mentally.”
