Wolves Baseball win two, loses two

Watford City 3, Minot North 2
Watford City Wolves took the game in dramatic fashion, with a 3-2 walk-off victory over Minot North. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the seventh when Isaiah Leahy doubled, scoring one run.


The pitching was strong on both sides. The Wolves pitchers struck out three, while Minot North struck out eleven.
A double by Carter Branstrom put the Wolves on the board in the bottom of the first.


Branstrom hit a solo inside the park home run in the bottom of the third for the Wolves.
Landon Ledahl earned the win for the Wolves. The right-handed pitcher allowed nine hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking none. Mueller took the loss for Minot North. The starter went six and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on four hits, striking out eleven and walking one.


Branstrom went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in.

In game two, the Wolves got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Paco Baldenegro tripled down the right field line.
The Wolves added one run in the third.


Trysten Devries earned the win for the Wolves. The pitcher surrendered three hits and one run over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking two. Kayden Danielson took the loss for Minot North. The starter went six innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits, striking out four and walking two. Hunter Cowan collected the save.


Baldenegro and Harper Moberg were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for the Wolves. Carter Branstrom led the Wolves with two hits in three at bats. The Wolves ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game.

Watford City 7, Jamestown 8
Jamestown opened the scoring in the top of the first with two singles.
Jamestown scored one run in the top of the fourth on an inside the park homerun by Braxton Perkins.
Watford City Wolves jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after Harper Moberg singled to right field, Jamestown committed an error, Brandon Spacher grounded out, and Isaiah Leahy doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run.


Jamestown tied the game in the top of the seventh thanks to a single by Weber, an error, and a walk by Mason Joseph.
In the top of the eighth, Jamestown broke up the tie when Spacher induced Weber to hit into a fielder’s choice, with one run scored. Then a steal of home by Weber followed to extend the lead to 8-6.


Hunter Cowan led things off on the mound for the Wolves. The starter gave up nine hits and six runs (five earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three. Perkins stepped on the mound first for Jamestown. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and six runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking four.


Trysten Devries led the Wolves with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Paco Baldenegro and Devries each collected two hits for the Wolves. Moberg stole two bases. The Wolves ran wild on the base paths, accumulating six stolen bases for the game. The Wolves turned one double play in the game.

Watford City 8, Jamestown 17
Even though the Wolves collected 11 hits to Jamestown’s 10, they still fell 17-8. Hunter Cowan, Paco Baldenegro, and Harper Moberg each collected two hits for the Wolves.


Jamestown was the first to get on the board in the first when Braxton Perkins drew a walk, scoring one run.
The Wolves made the score 4-1 in the bottom of the first after Moberg doubled, scoring two runs, Brandon Spacher was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Trysten Devries singled, scoring one run.


Jamestown scored seven runs on six hits in the top of the seventh inning. Thomas Newman singled, scoring one run; Kolpin singled, scoring one run; Perkins drew a walk, scoring one run; Edison Walters singled, scoring two runs; #6 singled, scoring one run and Cody Busch was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.


Carter Branstrom pitched four and one-third innings in relief for the Wolves. The pitcher gave up five hits and seven runs (five earned) while, striking out four and walking four. Brandon Spacher stepped on the mound first for the Wolves. The right-handed pitcher gave up three hits and eight runs (two earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking five. Cayleb Miller started on the mound for Jamestown. The starter allowed three hits and four runs (three earned) over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking one.


The Wolves collected 11 hits in the game. Cowan led the Wolves with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. The Wolves ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game.
