Wolves Baseball wins two in a row

Watford City 9, Hazen 8
Watford City Varsity Wolves took Friday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 9-8 walk-off victory over Hazen. The game was tied at eight in the bottom of the ninth when Brandon Spacher singled, scoring one run.


Josh Chavez singled to left field, which helped Watford City tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
Watford City took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Carter Branstrom walked, and Landon Ledahl stole home, each scoring one run.
Watford City tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a single by Paco Baldenegro, and a steal of home by Branstrom.
Watford City tied the game in the bottom of the eighth thanks to a double by Braylen Tolbert, and a wild pitch.


Ledahl earned the win for Watford City. The right-handed pitcher gave up six hits and six runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Hunter Cowan stepped on the mound first for Watford City. The pitcher allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking three.


Watford City piled up 13 hits in the game. Baldenegro led the Wolves with two runs batted in. The leadoff hitter went 2-for-5 on the day. Ledahl led the Wolves with three hits in five at bats. Branstrom and Isaiah Leahy each collected multiple hits for the Wolves. Branstrom and Ledahl each stole multiple bases for Watford City. Watford City stole eight bases in the game and turned one double play in the game.

Game two the Watford City Wolves snatched the lead late in their 4-3 victory over Hazen. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the fourth when Harper Moberg singled, scoring one run.


Watford City took the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the fourth thanks to singles by Josh Chavez, Isaiah Leahy, and Moberg.
Brandon Spacher earned the win for Watford City. The right-handed pitcher surrendered three hits and three runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking five.


Chavez drove the middle of the lineup, leading Watford City with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Braylen Tolbert, paco Baldenegro, Moberg, Chavez, and Leahy each collected one hit for  Watford City.
