Wolves blow by Hazen

The Watford City Wolves varsity girls basketball team extended its wining record to 15-2 as the Wolves crushed the Hazen Bison, 67-47, last Tuesday evening. Watford City will close out its regular season play this week as the Wolves travel to Bowman on Thursday, and then host Dickinson Trinity on Friday.

Jayme Johnson had the game of her senior year as she poured in a game high 20 points, while grabbing nine rebounds, dishing off six assists and coming up with four steals as she led the Wolves to a 67-47 win over Hazen.
Watford City exploded for 24 first- quarter points, and then never looked back en route to the win.
“We played very well the entire game,” stated Berton Bates, Wolves’ head coach, on the win. “We pressed well and ran our fast break for some easy baskets.”
Watford led the Bison, 35-16, at halftime and by 16 points, 49-33, after three quarters of play.
Joining Johnson in double digit scoring for the Wolves was Dani Bates with 16 points.
Rounding out the scoring for the Wolves was Marti Quale with nine points, McKayla Haugeberg with eight points, Alexis Sanford with six points, Brianna Allex with four points, while Charlie Hystad and Ashli Foli ended the game with two points each.
For the game, Watford City was good on 25 of 46 attempts from the field and hit on two of six three-pointers. At the free-throw line, the Wolves were 11 of 24.
