We were glad that the meet was moved from Friday to Saturday. The wind was much better for us on Saturday.  The guys stepped up to the challenge and worked very hard at the meet. We had 14 personal bests set throughout the meet.

We were able to get two more qualifications. Kyle Best started us off by qualifying the 300 Hurdles by time and still placed 9th in the race. He has made steady improvements mainly because of improved strength and is a very consistent runner.

Our WDA region is very tough. Many events needed qualifying marks to earn a Top 8 place. We added Bryson Wolfe as a qualifier on the 4x400 relay team while improving our qualifying time out of the second heat and placing 7th in the race.

Xavier McGorman, who has been battling a hamstring injury, jumped very well in the high jump and seems to be back to his old self. He was our only region champion on the day.
Dehico Bocanegra Tovar was the region runner-up in the 800. He improved his qualifying time to a 1:57.84. He has been working on his goal of breaking the school record that is 1:56.20.

Those that placed in the Top 8 are considered All-Region. Xavier 1st in the High Jump, Dehico 2nd in the 800, Thaydan Arnold 5th in the Shot Put, James Odenbach 6th in the 300 Hurdles and 7th in the Pole Vault, Kyle Best 8th in the 400, and our 4x400 relay team in 7th with Bryson Wolfe, Dehico Bocanegra Tovar, Judah Mitchell, and Kyle Best.

For most of our athletes, this was their last meet of the season. I am very proud of their accomplishments. They have learned how to work and be competitive to improve their marks. We have a lot of good young talent coming up and we are excited about that.

On to state with a very good group of athletes at the Bismarck Community Bowl Thursday through Saturday, May 21-23. You can find the schedule of events at ndhsaanow.com.
