Wolves edge New Town in a key District 15 matchup

The Watford City varsity boys basketball team picked up a key District 15 win last Monday as the Wolves edged the New Town Eagles 58-52. With the win the Wolves improved their season record to 3-1.
The next action for the Wolves will be on Tuesday, Jan. 5 when they travel to Killdeer.
Watford City 58, New Town 52
Watford City used a very balanced scoring attack along with tenacious defense to pick up their first district win as the Wolves defeated the New Town Eagles 58-52 on Monday, Dec. 21.
Three Wolves hit double figure scoring in the contest with Trey Jacobson pacing Watford City with 15 points, while Reid Johnson and Tyler Flatland netted 14 and 11 points, respectively in the key win.
Watford City held a 10-7 first quarter lead before building an eight point advantage, 23-15, at halftime. The Wolves continued to dominate the offensive action in the third quarter as Watford City upped its lead to 10 points, 37-27, at the end of three quarters.
New Town would make a run in the final eight minutes of play as the Eagles cut the Wolves’ margin to just three points midway through the fourth quarter. But Watford City answered the challenge to post the win.
Rounding out the scoring for Watford City was Nick Liebel with seven points, Shawn Fulwider with five points, while Dillon Langerud, Jesse Weber and Lucas Nicholson ended the game with two points each.
