The Watford City Wolves continued to play competitive football last Thursday, but once again came up a few plays short. St. Mary’s beat them 28-20 in AA West action on a windy evening at Fridley Field. “We are the same team every week,” said Wolves head coach, Jim Dooley. “We still do enough good things to keep us in a game, and still make enough crucial mistakes that cost us.” The Wolves broke the ice on the first drive of the game when Paco Baldenegro scored on a 4-yard touchdown run on the eighth play of the 80-yard drive. With the wind at their back, St. Mary’s drove right down the field for a 7-play, 59-yard scoring drive as Beckett Price scored on a 16-yard scamper. The Saints took advantage of excellent field position on their next drive, going 42 yards in five plays and scoring on a 2-yard rush by Charles Richter. Oliver Coghlan made his second extra point to give St. Mary’s a 14-6 lead after one quarter.
