Wolves fall to Ray in volleyball action

Watford City’s varsity volleyball team was busy this past week as the Wolves took on Ray in dual action last Tuesday before playing six games in the Dickinson Tournament over the weekend.
The Wolves fell to Ray in three games and then took ninth place in the Silver Division at the Dickinson Tournament.
This week, the Wolves will travel to Parshall on Thursday, and then close out the week’s schedule at Trinity Christian on Oct. 6.

Ray 3, Watford City 0
Watford dropped three games to Ray in varsity volleyball action last Tuesday as the Wolves fell to the Jays  25-11, 25-22 and 25-10.
Charlie Hystad led the team with four kills, while Marti Quale had 11 assists and 13 digs.

Dickinson Tournament
Watford City won one match in pool play and then one match to finish in ninth place in the silver division of the Dickinson Tournament this past weekend.
The Wolves dropped their first match in pool play to Sturgis, S.D. by scores of 25-15, 25-11 and 25-13 before falling to Dickinson High by scores of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-10. In their final match in pool play Watford City defeated Glasgow by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-13 to advance to the silver division of tournament play.
In opening round action of the tournament, the Wolves dropped a pair of games to Minot Our Redeemers by scores of 26-17 and 25-18. Watford City then defeated Hettinger 25-21 before losing the next two games to the Black Devils by scores of 26-24 and 25-15.
The Wolves then took ninth place in the silver division defeating Des Lacs/Burlington 2-1 as Watford City won the first game 25-14 and then losing the second game 25-19 before taking the third game 25-15.
