Wolves maul Miners

The Watford City varsity girls basketball team, which only has two games left in its regular season, rolled over the Beulah Miners, 54-42, and Heart River, 63-35, this past week.
With the win, Watford City improved its season record to 13-3.
This week, the Wolves will travel to Parshall on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Watford City outscored Beulah in the first three quarters of play as the Wolves rolled over the Miners, 54-42, in the Wolves final home game of the season.
The Wolves, who were never challenged in the game, jumped out to a quick 16-10 first quarter, and then coasted to the easy win.
Watford City led the Miners by eight points, 29-21, at halftime and upped its lead to 14 points, 45-31, going into the final eight minutes of play.
Katie Mogen and Ricki Lindley paced the Wolves in scoring with 24 and 10 points, respectively.
Rounding out the scoring for Watford City was Amanda Mogen with nine points, Kara Langerud with seven points, while Lea Arndt and Mackenzie Sparby ended the game with two points each.

Watford City 63, Heart River 35
Ten Watford City players made the scoring column on Saturday night as the Wolves crushed the Heart River Cougars, 63-35, in a very lopsided contest.
After holding a 17-10 first quarter lead, the Wolves went on an 18-10 second quarter scoring spree to put the game on ice.
With a comfortable 35-20 halftime lead, John Zenz, Wolves’ head coach was able to give his reserve players plenty of playing time.
Three Watford City players ended the game with double-digit scoring as Katie Mogen, Kaitlyn Grimes and Ricki Lindley netted 13, 12 and 11 points, respectively, in the win.
The Wolves continued to dominate the offensive action in the second half of play as Watford City outscored the Cougars, 19-4, in the third quarter before Heart River took the final eight minutes with an 11-9 scoring advantage.
Also scoring for the Wolves was Amanda Mogen with nine points, Lea Arndt with eight points, Alyssa Prichard with four points, April Spreull and Kara Langerud with two points each, while Elise Hadley and Alli Mogen netted one point each.
