Sydney Slais carded an 18-hole score of 99 during the girls Northwest Conference Golf Tournament in Watford City last Tuesday to help lead the Wolves to a second place finish.
“Sydney had an outstanding day, as she shot her personal best, a 99, and tied for third place,” stated Kelli Jo Taylor, girls’ head coach. “And Jordan Sparby also came in with a personal best this year with a 101, which placed her in sixth place.”
Overall, Taylor was thrilled with the way her girls competed at the Northwest tournament, and is hopeful that if the team keeps on playing as well as they have, there is a good chance that they will qualify for State.
“There are five teams in our region who are all very close in team scores,” states Taylor. “Only three teams can move on to the state tournament. But if we play how we did in the Northwest Conference, we will have a very good chance of making it to State.”
At the conference tournament, the Wolves finished with a score of 420, just seven strokes behind Stanley.
Following Slais and Sparby at the Northwest Conference was Allison Monsen, 109; Brea Jore, 111; Jayden White Owl, 112; and Kasi Sorenson, 118.
Karissa Monsen carded a score of 123 in the junior varsity tournament.
