Wolves take third to qualify for State

In spite of high-powered winds and chilly temperatures, the Watford City Wolves girls golf team at the Regional Golf Tournament were able to battle the weather conditions and make good for a third place showing in Watford City last Tuesday. With the win, the Wolves qualify for the State Class B Golf Tournament, which will be held at the Tom O’Leary Golf Course in Bismarck on May 28 and 29.
The Wolves shot a team score of 471, and by one stroke, finished ahead of Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood for third place.
Stanley took first with a 465 and New Town/Parshall was second with a 469. Rounding out the top five teams was MLS, fourth, with a 472, and Ray, fifth, with a score of 570.
Allison Monsen led the Wolves with a score of 110 and a fifth place finish individually, while Sydney Slais of Watford also made the top 10, shooting a 114 for a seventh place finish individually.
Also scoring for Watford City was Jayden White Owl, 122; Jordan Sparby, 125; Kasi Sorenson, 126; and Brea Jore, 131.
