Wolves top Ray in season opener

The Watford City Wolves varsity boys basketball team opened its 2009-10 season with a decisive 60-41 win over Ray last Friday evening.
This week, the Wolves will travel to Minot Ryan on Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. contest and travel to Beach for a 5:30 p.m. game on Saturday. Watford City closes out the week’s schedule on Monday when the Wolves host New Town in a 7:30 p.m. game.

Behind a very balanced scoring attack that saw three Watford City players in double figures, the Wolves cruised to an easy 60-41 win over the Ray Jays to open their home season last Friday.
Watford City jumped out to an 18-11 first quarter lead, and then blew the game wide open as the Wolves went on a 13-5 scoring spree in the second quarter to hold a 15 point, 31-16 halftime lead.
Trey Jacobson led both teams in scoring with 14 points, while Nick Liebel and Shawn Fulwider joined him in double figures with 12 and 10  points, respectively.
The Wolves continued to dominate the scoring in the third quarter as Watford City posted a 15-8 scoring advantage before cruising to the easy win.
Rounding out the scoring for Watford City was Tyler Flatland with nine points, Reid Johnson with six points, Lucas Nicholson with four points, Chans Brown with three points and Dillon Langerud with two points.
