After building a 25-15 halftime lead, it looked like Watford City was going to pick up an easy win over the Bowman Bulldogs last Tuesday evening. But Bowman turned the tables in the second half giving Watford City everything that it could handle as the Wolves edged out a 44-40 win.
Watford City, behind the hot hand of Trey Jacobson, who would lead the Wolves in scoring with 16 points, held a slim 11-10 first quarter lead before blowing the game wide open in the second quarter on the back of a 14-5 scoring run.
While the Wolves would hold a comfortable 25-15 halftime lead, Bowman answered quickly in the third quarter as the Bulldogs cut Watford City’s lead to just six points, 30-24, going into the fourth quarter. And Bowman kept the pressure up in the final eight minutes of play as the Bulldogs cut the Wolves’ lead to just a single point on two occasions before Watford City put the game away in the final minute.
Joining Jacobson in double figure scoring for the Wolves was Shawn Fulwider with 10 points. Also scoring for Watford City was Nick Liebel with nine points, Reid Johnson with four points, Dillon Langerud with three points and Tyler Flatland with two points.
