AS I SEE IT

American taxpayers had better be prepared to open their wallets to help fund all of the needs of the thousands of Mexican immigrants that President Joe Biden is now willing to accept into the United States. And American workers, who are struggling to find jobs, had better be prepared to face stiff competition from these new workers who are soon going to be competing for jobs.
Almost as soon as Biden became president, he has begun rolling back former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. As of last week, Biden undid Trump’s policy known as Remain in Mexico and began the process of allowing Mexican immigrants into the country. He has also lifted a Trump administration ban on green cards during the coronavirus pandemic that was blocking most legal immigration to the United States, and he is backing legislation that would give legal status and a pathway to citizenship to an estimated 11 million people currently in the United States.
Biden, in his proclamation last week, said shutting the door on legal immigrants “does not advance the interests of the United States.”
Pray tell what are the interests of the United States when it comes to allowing immigrants into this country? Is the new federal policy going to be open American borders to anyone who wants to come in from Mexico, Central America, the Middle East or around the world?
Or is the United States going to follow its long-standing policy that puts immigrants on the path to citizenship?
It appears that Biden is choosing to open our borders to hundreds of thousands of immigrants from Mexico and Central America and providing them with all of the rights and benefits of American citizens whether or not they become citizens of this country.
And this week, Mexico’s president López Obrador will be presenting Biden with a proposal that could bring 600,000 to 800,000 Mexican and Central American immigrants a year to work legally in the United States.
Once again, how in the world would bringing in that many immigrants be in the best interest of the United States?
One can be certain that each and every one of those immigrant workers will never leave this country. And once here, they will bring up more of their family members to enjoy the benefits that they could never have in Mexico or Central America.
And the American taxpayer is going to be footing the bill for every social and welfare program that these immigrants receive.
