AS I SEE IT

By Neal A. Shipman
Farmer Editor

This coming Friday, Sept. 30, marks a very memorable day for Lisa and I when after 39 years at the helm of the McKenzie County Farmer, we hand over our keys to the building at the end of the work day and officially head into our retirement years. While we sold the newspaper to Steve Hallstrom and Scott Hennen of Flag Family Media on July 1, we have continued to assist the new owners and the paper staff for the past three months in the transition.
The last three months have not only been a period of transition for the new owners and the newspaper staff to adjust to their new roles as they move forward without us, but for Lisa and I as well as we try to figure out what we are going to be doing with our time instead of going to work every day.
To be honest, the newspaper staff has done a better job of making the transition to running the newspaper without us than we have done with figuring out what we are going to be doing with our retirement time.
