Clean your closet and clothe the kids at The Sharing Clothes Line

If you have a pile of clothes that your kids have out-grown or do not like anymore, then this is the event for you! The Sharing Clothes Line is a non-profit event aimed at making the most of our kids’ closets. JeAnne Homiston and Angela Smith began the event over a conversation this Halloween while taking their kids trick-or-treating.
This dynamic duo of moms thinks this will be a great event to give and receive in a quick and easy way. Homiston and Smith have been wanting to find a way to give back to the community, welcome all the new faces, as well as have a postive impact. They know from personal experience how hard it is to keep their kids in clothes that fit and how equally hard it is to just get rid of clothes that still have a lot of wear left in them. So they decided to put together a swap that would take care of both!
The event is completely free! Give of your old and take something new, or just give or just take! All of the donated items will be available to the entire community to take what they need. Whether you get rid of jeans or shoes to look for a larger size, or you clean out those baby clothes you have no kids or relatives to hand down to, this swap has it all.
The Sharing Clothes Line is looking for donations of gently used clothes for infants through teens, household items, and small kitchen appliances. Homiston notes, “With winter just around the corner, we are specifically looking for cold weather clothing (coats, mittens, hats, sweaters, blankets, boots, etc.).” But do not worry if you do not have any children’s clothing, they are also taking monetary donations to give to the Food Pantry. All excess clothing and home goods will be donated to a local secondhand store.
Both Homiston and Smith are excited to see how much community support they have gotten just in the planning stage. “We are so glad to see how many people are excited about the event and ready to help,” says Smith.
The Sharing Clothes Line event will take place on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Watford City Civic Center, with setup on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. All donations will be received after 5 p.m. during the event setup Wednesday evening. Please make sure clothes and home goods are in good, clean condition. If you cannot bring your items that evening, you can send them with a friend! The Sharing Clothes Line is also looking for volunteers to help with setup and running the event.
