Producers get hot on their crops

“A month ago, you weren’t very optimistic because of how hard that ground was,” says Matthew Rolfson, a local farmer. “You were telling people, how am I going to seed into this ground? And with the snow and everything we’ve had, now, it’s - how am I going to seed into this ground?”
Several months ago, it was ranchers who were caught in the midst of a struggle as a severe lack of moisture had dried up their pastures. Now, it is farmers who are faced with too much moisture. But what many farmers would probably argue is that having too much moisture isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
“With the lack of moisture and lack of snowfall, things looked pretty dire up until these last couple weeks now and what a turn around,” says Rolfson.
