We live in turbulent times. However we’ve seen turbulent times throughout the history of our great country. But do we have the leadership in America today to rise to the occasion? More importantly, is our citizenry engaged in the fight for freedom? Ronald Reagan once warned that “Freedom is a fragile thing and it’s never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. And those in world history who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.”
I am reading Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book “Leadership In Turbulent Times”. I find it inspiring to soak in the infinite wisdom of Abraham Lincoln, whom the author rightly reveres. Lincoln’s words about education and “informed people” jumped off the pages of her literary gem.
