They say the rules are made by those who show up. A small but mighty voter base ushered in some significant changes in North Dakota politics on June 11. Given the dismal condition of the North Dakota Democrat party, the primaries likely decided our next Governor will be Congressman Kelly Armstrong and our lone representative in the U.S. House of Representatives will be Public Service Commissioner Julie Fedorchak.
Armstrong won by 46 points in a blowout against Lt. Governor Tammy Miller. You can’t call that a surprise. Miller ran a serious campaign with ample resources, but it was her first time on a statewide ballot. Both candidates were well funded, but the familiarity of a three term member of Congress and a respected state legislator proved the key to victory for Armstrong.
