Alexander school sees small enrollment growth

After the slowdown in the oil industry last year, Leslie Bieber, Alexander Public School District superintendent, hoped that this year’s enrollment numbers would hold steady. So it was a pleasant surprise, when enrollment not only held steady, but actually grew slightly as students made their way back for the first day of classes on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
“This year’s enrollment, with preschool, we’re at 279 students,” says Bieber. “Last year, we ended the school year with 264 students.”
With some home-school families returning to in-school learning this year, Bieber says the fact that Alexander did not see a drop in its enrollment numbers is always a good feeling.
