Area businesses urge customers to shop local

Local businesses are gearing up for the holiday season and they want to remind residents to shop local.
“Spending money at local businesses supports all the employees who work there as well as the local owners. The money you spend at local businesses turns around as payments to employee wages, taxes, utilities, etc., and also allows our small business to support local groups such as the school, fundraisers, benefits, and more,” said Debbie Larsen, owner of Larsen Service Drug.
“Larsen’s is what stores used to be like, before big box and chain stores and online shopping became a thing,” Larsen explained. “We’ve been in business over 70 years, and currently 2nd and 3rd generation Larsens operate the store. Traditionally, Watford didn’t have a lot of stores, so we carried a wide variety of merchandise to meet our customers’ needs: toys, jewelry, cards and candy, school and office supplies, home decor, candles and more. Recently we’ve focused on high quality skincare products, nutritional supplements, healthy snacks etc., something for everyone! We strive to carry different brands than other stores to help the people of the area have more local options to choose from.”
