State sees new gas production record

The monthly Director’s Cut was published on Nov. 14, and covered the official numbers for all of August as well as some from September.
In August, there were 87 new wells permitted, which fell to 59 wells in September. The rig count for both months was 37, however the preliminary results for October show a decrease in rigs to 33, with an estimated 35 in operation as of publication.
According to state officials, “the drilling rig count remains low due to workforce, mergers, and acquisitions but is expected to return to the mid-forties with a gradual increase expected over the next two years”
