It’s that time of year again when the giving spirit of the holidays kick in and Bakken Oil Rush Ministry (BORM) hosts its 8th annual Toy Mall on Saturday, Dec. 3, beginning at 10 a.m.
“We’ll have pancakes, we’ll be in our pajamas and we’ll hopefully have some singing,” smiled Melanie Smith, Bakken Oil Rush Ministry executive director.
The weather was brisk that day as Smith shuffled through papers of a file drawer that included the original plans and dreams of Jim and Kathie Konsor, who started BORM in 2014 and began holding its Toy Mall in 2015.
“People donate a lot of new things,” says Smith. “What I love about our ministry, is when people give to us, we’re just turning around and giving that back to the community.”
December is an ideal time for a person’s holiday merriment to kick in, but if you find yourself dreading the Christmas holiday rather than looking forward to it, specifically because of strapped finances, you might make a good candidate for bringing your kiddo(s) to BORM’s toy mall. Although BORM emphasizes that the event is open to everyone and therefore encourages anyone to take part in it.
