Brisk Black Friday sales have local merchants smiling

There were plenty of smiling faces as close to a thousand people turned out for Watford City’s kick-off to the Christmas season on Friday as they lined Main Street to watch the annual Parade of Lights and fireworks display.
And why shouldn’t they have been smiling. The evening temperatures were in the mid-40s with no breath of a wind, they could munch on loaded backed potatoes being served by the McKenzie County Junior 4-H leaders and wander through Watford City stores that were filled with holiday gift ideas.
But it wasn’t only the shoppers who were enjoying Black Friday in Watford City. So were the area merchants who say that they were enjoying some of their best holiday sales days.
