City ready for potential mosquito outbreak

There is nothing that can spoil a family outing at one of Watford City’s parks or a backyard picnic faster than being driven back inside by mosquitoes.
And with all of the moisture that has fallen in the county since April, the potential for an outbreak of those pesky mosquitoes is high, according to Justin Smith, Watford City Public Works director.
The breeding grounds for mosquitoes has definitely expanded with the rains,” states Smith. “I would have expected our trap counts to be higher with all the rain. But the good news so far is that the mosquito count has been pretty low in our traps in most parts of town.”
