City welcomes new walking path

The days of witnessing residents walk on the slanted hill alongside Hwy. 85 will soon be over as the completion of Watford City’s new walking path will be completed by the end of September.
“It will definitely be a benefit for the pedestrians that use that route, to have an actual walk surface that’s away from the shoulder of the road,” says Justin Smith, Watford City Public Works.
The walking path, which starts at the Long X Visitor’s Center and extends to the McKenzie County Heritage Park, will be about 5/8 of a mile long and 10 feet wide, Smith says.
“The project started in early July and it’s expected to be complete by the end of September,” he says.
