Father Brian Gross to leave McKenzie County after 12 years

After serving 12 years as the pastor of Epiphany Parish in Watford City and Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Alexander, Father Brian Gross is leaving to become an instructor at the St. Paul Seminary.
“I’ve been here for 12 years, and when I came I had only been ordained a priest for two years. At that time, even being from Bismarck, I had only a tiny idea that there was something happening here. And when I got here, the boom was just hitting its peak, and it was kind of a shock really,” Gross remembered. “Immediately I had a sense of like, Watford City is different, and the sense of, ‘okay, we’re met with the challenge and now how do we use this challenge to grow and to become better?’ So it was just really exciting at the beginning to be a part of that in a small little way but with the parish.”
He says that while this was the first time he had ever been a pastor, both he and the parish grew quickly. “So there’s definitely, for me personally, there were those growing pains, but the people in the parish are great, just wonderful.”
