When people come to work in Watford City from out-of-state, they either love the area, or hate it. There’s really no in-between. It usually depends on where they are from and what they’re all about, that dictates their love (or loath) of the Bakken.
Jeffrey (Jeff) McKinney came to Watford City in 2018 from Mize, Miss., to work as an environmental inspector.
When Brooke McKinney followed her husband years later, she brought with her their two daughters, Olivia and Hadley, and felt content in her decision.
“Watford City is bigger than our hometown of Mize,” she says.
