Giving blood is giving back to others

While February is American Heart Month, heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States. Surgical procedures needed to treat heart disease often require a blood transfusion. Those who have been injured in an accident or are being treated for illness may also need blood.
Forty-three local residents chose to do their part as The Vitalant Foundation and the city of Watford City teamed up to host a community blood drive last week.
“It’s just nice to help other people,” says Cari Liebel, local resident and regular blood donor.
